Paperbound is a new and inventive local multiplayer fighting game that has recently appeared on Kickstarter. Created by developers who have worked on games like Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Go Home Dinosaurs, and The Bourne Conspiracy, the game takes place amidst the pages of old storybooks. The player will then take control of a character from one of these storybooks and become, as the team so awesomely puts it, a "gravity ninja."

What sets this game apart form other fighting games is its gravity manipulation. Gravity changes direction as the player traverses the curved surfaces within an arena. This allows for more creativity in movement, dodges, approaches, and attacks.

Alongside this gravity manipulation there are other gameplay features which include:

  • Local multiplayer for 2-4 players
  • A variety maps from 5+ books. Each map plays very differently.
  • 3 Game Modes - Versus, Team Versus, Capture the Flag
  • A dozen playable characters
  • Your gravity adjusts to curved surfaces
  • Flip gravity while running or mid-air

I highly suggest visiting the actual Kickstarter page, as it shows off a few of the stages and characters that will be in the game, as well as some other goals and rewards for pledging. There is also a demo available for Windows PC so that those of you who are on the fence can test it out before you pledge.

Do you think this game looks exciting? Are you thinking about pledging? Let us know in the comments below.
