Metroid fans haven't been catered to by the Big N in quite some time. Not counting the Metroid mini-games in Nintendo Land, Samus' last adventure was Metroid: Other M in 2010, and that game was met with a lukewarm reception. Nintendo fans pegged Metroid as the game they most want on Wii U, and Nintendo is working on the future of the series, but there was actually a Metroid prototype in development not too long ago. Next Level Games was working on a Metroid game, and pitched a "bare bones prototype" to Nintendo, but it was scrapped in favor of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.

As you can see, the concept art put together by Next Level Games shows a very different sort of design for Samus. Additionally there are two serpent or dragon-like bosses shown with both organic and metallic components. Could this be their take on Ridley? Check out the images in the gallery below, and let us know what you think!
