Do you remember the good old days of the Nintendo Entertainment System? I sure as heck do... not... But just because I wasn't around in the NES's glory days doesn't mean I haven't gone back to play all of the most popular games (and some not-so-popular ones) on the famous 8-bit block of wonder. Now, what if I told you that Nintendo is remaking NES classics like Ice Climber, Excitebike, and even StarTropics?
Well, that may not be happening, exactly, but something along those lines is. A game called "NES Remix" by Nintendo themselves has appeared on the Australian Classifications Board's website, and though we have no idea what the game actually is, we do know that it has received a "G" rating due to violence with a "very mild impact" and an absence of adult themes, nudity, and other potentially offensive material. The game is currently listed as "Multi Platform," which may mean that it is coming to either the 3DS or the Wii U (or both).
Given that we have absolutely no other information to go on, all that's left for us to do is speculate. Given the genericness of the title, I'm willing to be this game is a collection of some sort, and the "remix" idea implies some sort of new content. Is it a collection of remakes of classic NES games? Or perhaps even new games designed to play like NES titles? Given the way Nintendo handles their big-name titles like Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda, I think it's safe to say that whatever is featured in this upcoming title will relate to smaller franchises like Ice Climber, Kid Icarus, or Clu Clu Land.
NES Remix was classified on October 17th, so hopefully we'll hear more about this game soon.
