About a month ago, we reported that late Nintendo President Satoru Iwata would be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at D.I.C.E. 2016. Iwata was a legendary and beloved figure in the video game industry for over three decades, lending his talents as a developer to key franchises like Super Smash Bros., EarthBound, and Pokémon before becoming the President of Nintendo.
Tragically, Iwata passed away last July at the age of 55, and the video game industry came together as one to mourn his loss and to share their favorite memories. In his absence, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime accepted Iwata's Lifetime Achievement Award and delivered a touching speech about their friendship. Iwata was also honored with a video tribute and a speech from Shiver Entertainment boss John Schappert. You can watch the full presentation by clicking above.
