Mystery Gifts have not always been available in Pokémon installments, but they sure do come in handy when you're trying to find that hidden legendary. The way it worked in installments like Diamond and Pearl was that, using the Mystery Gift feature, players would download "Wonder Cards" which allowed them to receive a gift of some kind from a strange man clothed in green.

Pokémon X and Y will be releasing this week and the two new installments will be available at many retailers.

In order to turn the tables, however, some retailers are offering incentives to pre-ordering either of the games, one of which includes a serial code offered by Nintendo UK and Tesco which has been confirmed to be another method for receiving Mystery Gifts. Players will also be able to receive Mystery Gifts and other cool treats via Wi-Fi, Nintendo Network, and infra-red.

Pokémon X and Y are upcoming RPG video games coming to the Nintendo 3DS and will be released worldwide on October 12th, 2013. Hey, look at that! That's this Saturday! Excited about the upcoming release date? Leave a comment down below and express how excited you are!
