It's been an interesting week for Undertale fans. Toby Fox, creator of the indie sensation, began dropping teasers about an upcoming announcement earlier this week. When the fated day came, Fox made a "survey" available for download. This free download turned out to be the first chapter of a new RPG called Delta Rune, and it left Undertale fans with countless questions. Thankfully, Fox has returned to answer some of those questions.

During this year's E3 I went hands-on with a point-and-click adventure called 3 Minutes to Midnight, and I came away quite impressed. We later named it our Best Indie Game of E3 2018, and we've been looking forward to seeing more of it since. That wish was granted today, as developer Scarecrow Studio released a new trailer that highlights some of the crazy characters, diverse environments, and mysterious happenings in a once-quiet New Mexico town.

In a world of countless RPGs, you might be worried that the genre is becoming stale over time. Unfortunately, many developers are too afraid to shake up the formula out of fear their games may not sell well. So while the big names play it safe, we turn to independent developers for innovation. Enter Quincy Pringle, a young developer who is ready to liven up the RPG scene with his new game OTHER: Her Loving Embrace. The game takes traditional turn-based battles and turns each one into an interactive experience.

I had a chance to talk to Quincy about his upcoming game, and he had a lot to share, including details about the game's story, characters, additional gameplay mechanics, and much more. Quincy went into detail about his passion for game development, some of his greatest inspirations, and even some hardships he's faced when working on projects in the past. Team Salvato's Doki Doki Literature Club made a big splash last year when it was released for free on Steam and its own official website. Although designed to look like a fairly standard anime-styled visual novel, Doki Doki takes several dark turns as the story progresses, transforming into a psychological horror. Because of the game's dark nature, a father in Manchester believes it's to blame for his teenage son's suicide.

Nintendo Switch has become a hot spot for incredible independently developed games, and the lack of a traditional Virtual Console has been a tremendous boon for sales. New titles, such as Golf Story, have found great success on Switch's eShop, and the console has also proven attractive to indie games of yesteryear, like Super Meat Boy. Switch's lineup of classic indies is about to expand once again, as two more hits are scheduled to arrive later this week.
