Capcom has officially announced a new Mega Man game, the first new entry in the Mega Man series since the release of Mega Man 10 back in 2010. Mega Man 11 will be a side-scrolling platformer, like all its predecessors, but now with high-definition 3D graphics. The game is expected to come out for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in "late 2018."

Earlier today, during the livestream for Mega Man's 30th anniversary, Capcom announced that Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2 will be coming to the Nintendo Switch next spring. These two collections, along with the upcoming Mega Man 11, which is also coming to Nintendo Switch next spring, comprise the entire mainline Mega Man series, from 1987 to the present day.

Over the past few months, Niantic has been slowly bringing legendary Pokémon into Pokémon GO. After introducing Lugia to the game back in July, it seemed inevitable that Ho-Oh, Lugia's counterpart in the Johto Region, would be coming eventually. Well, yesterday, Niantic officially released Ho-Oh in Pokémon GO—it's available worldwide and far easier to catch than the last few legendary Pokémon, as Ho-Oh can be found through regular Raid Battles.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Nintendo's newest mobile game, was released on Android and iOS devices this week, and it's performed amazingly well so far. Within its first day, the game became the most downloaded app in eight countries, including the United States, Japan, Canada, France, and Germany, some of the largest mobile gaming markets in the world.

Chad and Jared Moldenhauer, creators of the wildly-popular indie title Cuphead, confirmed during an interview with IGN that they definitely plan on bringing Cuphead back in a future game. When asked whether Cuphead has a chance of returning someday, Jared Moldenhauer immediately responded that he is "guaranteed to come back," but he admitted that he and his brother have not had time to discuss any concrete plans.

Blizzard just revealed a new Overwatch hero at Blizzcon 2017. Her name is Moira, and she is an Irish research scientist and support healer who harnesses the power of shadows in battle. We don't have a release date for her so far, but Blizzard has given us a backstory trailer for her, detailing her past as a scientist.

The release of Super Mario Odyssey has been extraordinarily successful so far. The game is already classified among the highest-rated video games of all time, according to review aggregator sites like Metacritic and Game Rankings, and it's gained incredible popularity in its first few days on the market. In its latest financial briefing, Nintendo revealed the first official sales numbers for Super Mario Odyssey. The company claims that Odyssey sold over two million copies in its first three days, making it the sixth Nintendo Switch title to sell over a million units.

Earlier this year, Russian directors Nikita and Liliya Ordynskiy announced a short film based on the classic indie title Papers, Please. The first trailer for the film, starring actor Igor Savochkin, has just been released, and it looks excellent.

Papers, Please, jokingly referred to as a "bureaucratic simulator," is a game about a border patrol officer in a totalitarian state who is forced to make life-and-death decisions regarding immigrants who wish to enter the country.

Konami has finally revealed the launch date for Metal Gear Survive, the upcoming zombie survival spin-off of Metal Gear Solid. The game will come out on February 20th in North America and February 22nd in Europe on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Fans who preorder the game will gain accessed to a "Day 1 Survival Pack Bonus," which simply grants the player some free in-game apparel.

Metal Gear Survive was originally scheduled to launch in late 2017, but it was delayed for unknown reasons earlier this year. Make the jump for more info.

In a recent interview with GameSpot, Hajime Tabata, the director of Final Fantasy XV, spoke at length about his plans for his next project in the Final Fantasy series. Although he's not sure if he wants his next game to feature an open world, Tabata has said that he wants to at least imitate the feeling of an open world game, as he wanted players to get the "overall experience" of playing in a massive world. This "overall experience" would be heavily inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which Tabata calls a "very polished" and "almost a perfect game."

According to some recent discoveries by Pokémon GO fans, it seems like Niantic Labs is already working on bringing Generation III Pokémon to Pokémon GO. A recent post on The Silph Road, the largest Pokémon GO community on Reddit, shows that fans have been able to find new files for all 137 Generation III Pokémon by digging through the metadata of the newest Pokémon GO update, v0.71.0.

At E3 2017, Nintendo revealed Metroid: Samus Returns, the company's first 2D Metroid game in over fourteen years. Samus Returns was met with near-universal praise, as fans were excited to see Metroid going back to its 2D roots. Now, about four weeks before the release of Samus Returns, Metroid producer Yoshio Sakamoto claims that he would love to go back and make another 2D Metroid game—as long as fans are willing to buy it.

After much anticipation, it seems that Blizzard is finally bringing a "Deathmatch" mode to its popular multiplayer shooter, Overwatch. In Deathmatch mode, the goal is simply to kill as many enemy players as possible. Such modes are standard in most multiplayer shooting games, but this is the first time that this simple game mode is coming to Overwatch, as the game's battle modes have always been a little more strategic.

Gamevice, a small electronics company that sells controllers for mobile gaming, is currently suing Nintendo for allegedly violating its patents with the design of the Nintendo Switch. According to the company, the Nintendo Switch's removable controllers are too similar to a patent that they hold for detachable controllers that connect to a mobile device like a smartphone. In its lawsuit, Gamevice calls for Nintendo to pay damages to the company and to take the Switch off the market.

Nintendo just revealed a new, limited edition, Metroid-themed New Nintendo 3DS XL, which will release alongside Metroid: Samus Returns on September 15th. The console is a reddish orange, reminiscent of Samus's suit, and features a stylish silhouette of Samus Aran. The console will cost $200 at launch, which doesn't include the price for Metroid: Samus Returns, as the game will be sold separately.
