Nintendo has been under fire lately from rumors about artificial scarcity for their Nintendo Switch consoles, which have been in high demand and low supply since releasing on March 3, 2017. This gossip seems unfounded, as the shortage actually appears rooted in a stall in component production, but they are still taking steps to pacify their fans. Tweeting an apology and linking to a notice on their support website, Nintendo has addressed at least the Japanese portion of their audience with assurances that shipment volume will increase.

Pokémon GO's gyms were temporarily disabled a few days ago to prepare for their major revamp, but there were those trainers who weren't content to sit back and wait. Instead, these data miners started digging deep into the code to track hints of upcoming changes.

If you have been neglecting the Pokémon GO app since the hype died down, this weekend might be a good time to pick it up again, as Niantic is rolling out a set of updates to revamp the multiplayer and battling experience. Gyms have been disabled for several days for these updates, but now they're reopening with the new features. Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel, the creators behind The Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy, have revealed their new indie title: The End Is Nigh! Debuting in the genre of adventure platformer, The End Is Nigh is set to launch on Steam on July 12th. The team is also planning to release the game for Nintendo Switch and "possibly [other] consoles" at a later date.

Anthem is the first new IP in almost a decade from EA's studio BioWare, the same minds behind the Mass Effect franchise. We saw the official teaser trailer during Electronic Arts' press conference yesterday, and today we have the world exclusive gameplay trailer from Microsoft's E3 conference. Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima has announced that Death Stranding will not be making an appearance at E3 2017. "Apologies to our fans", he tweeted yesterday, "Death Stranding will not be @ E3 as we are fully focused on development."

Kojima himself, however, will be present on Wednesday, June 14 for a panel at Geoff Keighley's E3 Coliseum. He is set to share the stage with Jordan Vogt-Roberts, director of Kong: Skull Island, who will also be working on a Metal Gear Solid film adaptation.

It has been nearly a year since Pokémon GO launched, and after several hints, teasing, and speculation, we finally have news that this summer will bring Player-versus-Player (PvP) battles and Legendary Pokémon to the mobile platform. We already heard that "this summer will be legendary," and now it appears we have official verification.

Last week, Mathieu de Fayet (Vice President of Strategic Partnership at Niantic) gave an interview to Brazilian daily newspaper O Globo. Reddit users Constyy and Hisucchi broke the news and translated the article on 'The Silph Road' subreddit, confirming what we've been hearing for the past few months.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) will be honoring Brandon Beck and Marc Merrill at a special event on the 12th of June, during E3, as part of BAFTA's global games recognition in the US.

Co-founders and co-CEOs of Riot Games since 2006, Beck and Merril will be joining the likes of Amy Hennig (Uncharted), Brenda Romero (Wizardry), and Markus Persson (Minecraft) as the latest recipients of the Special Award. The studio is being recognized for their "creative contribution to the games industry."
