Pokémon GO has been receiving numerous updates since its launch in 2016. Since Pokémon from the second generation have been featured in the game for a while, fans are starting to speculate when we'll see the next wave of creatures. A recent interview with Niantic's John Hanke and some images from a datamine suggest that players may not have to wait any later than Halloween for the new update.

When Hanke was interviewed a few days ago about what features would be coming to Pokémon GO, he said that "the next secret weapon will be [the] launch of the next Pokémon generation." Just a few days later, dataminers discovered the next loading screen for the game will feature silhouettes of Sableye, Duskull, Dusclops, Shuppet, and Banette. All of these creatures were first introduced in the third generation of Pokémon games.

During the interview, Hanke also talked about a new battle system that will be coming to Pokémon GO next year. He is likely alluding to the long awaited player-vs-player battles that fans have been waiting for since the game's launch. Hopefully a future with trainer battles in Pokémon GO isn't too far off.
