Red Dead Redemption was one of the most critically and commercially successful video games of the last generation. The Rockstar original was a stand-out title on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and now it seems like a sequel is on its way.
During the Cowen and Company analyst conference, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick commented on plans for the new generation of video games. With the publisher hot off the success of NBA 2K14 and Grand Theft Auto V, it'll be interesting to see what the company will do over the next few years. When the topic of continuing current franchises arose, Zelnick said the following.
"I pretty much know the ones that I can assure you are permanent. It's obvious that GTA is a permanent franchise as long as we keep delivering this incredible quality; it seems quite obvious that Red Dead is a permanent franchise, again with the same caveat, or Borderlands, for example, and NBA and others."
