A few weeks ago, Capcom debuted a teaser trailer at the Red Bull Battleground tournament that hinted at their next DLC character. The short video gives players a glimpse of longtime fighter Akuma followed by the phrase "Playable at PlayStation Experience," but apparently things might not be how they seem.

Speaking in a recent interview with popular Japanese publication Famitsu, Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono stated that Capcom never really said a new character is on the way and teased that what we'll actually see at PlayStation Experience 2016 could "betray everyone's expectations, in a good way."

Ono: We actually never said that a new character is coming at all. We just said that people would be able to experience what we showed in that video, that's all, haha.

Famitsu: That's what it meant?! Well then, at least we can confirm that there's something to personally experience at the PSX?

Ono: Yes. That's undeniable. But it's going to be something that betrays everyone's expectations, in a good way, I think.

Famitsu: Betrays everyone's expectations?!

Ono: A lot of things have been leaked in the past, but we've had very strict regulations on this in particular, so please look forward to hearing what we have to announce.

Will Akuma actually be added to the game as a playable character, or is there some other surprise in store for attendees at PlayStation Experience 2016? We'll find out when the event kicks off on December 3rd.
