Bandai Namco, the creators of classic games like Pac-Man, Galaga, and Dig Dug, just filed a trademark for "Pac-Man Maker" with the European Union Intellectual Property Office. This, of course, implies that the company could be working on a level-creator game like Nintendo's Super Mario Maker, but with the theme of Pac-Man.

Now, it's important to remember that companies file and renew trademarks fairly regularly, so this news doesn't necessarily mean anything; Bandai could be saving the "Pac-Man Maker" name in case they want to use it in the far future, or they could just be taking an additional legal step to protect the Pac-Man brand, ensuring that no other company could make their own version of "Pac-Man Maker." However, given the recent trend of maker-style games, it's very possible that they could be planning on making their own sometime soon.

You can read the filing for yourself here, but there isn't much additional information to be found, as Bandai Namco did not provide any details about their intended use for the trademark.

What do you guys think? Do you believe that Bandai Namco is working on a "Pac-Man Maker," and do you think it could come out anytime soon? Would you be interested in such a game? Let us know in the comments below!
