The original Bayonetta had a dedicated following of fans, but it didn't perform well enough to prompt further investment from most publishers. Thankfully, Nintendo swooped in to salvage the franchise, fully funding Bayonetta 2 as a Wii U exclusive. The sequel was a smashing success (as was the re-release of the original), prompting Nintendo to announce a third game at The Game Awards 2017.

While fans of the hack and slash series are undoubtedly thrilled to see it return, it's likely going to be awhile before they get their hands on the next instillation. During SEGA's recent Gameblast 2018 livestream, Bayonetta voice actress Hellena Taylor made an appearance and answered questions from fans. During this segment, Taylor revealed that she has not yet been asked to return as the voice of Bayonetta in the third game.

While there is some possibility that Taylor is being replaced, that seems unlikely. She's lent her voice to the character in both of the main series games, and she also did her voice acting in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U as well. The more likely scenario, and the scenario Taylor believes to be real, is that Bayonetta 3 is simply early enough in development that voice acting isn't yet a concern for the development team. If that's the case, fans will have to be patient. Hopefully Bayonetta's third adventure is well worth the wait!
