Did You Know Gaming, a YouTube channel that makes in-depth videos about the history of video games and all the secrets surrounding their development, just posted a new video covering the cult classic Banjo-Kazooie. The video discusses the game's complicated development, the difficulties that Rare experienced while creating its sequel, Nuts & Bolts, the transition that the series experienced when Rare was bought by Microsoft in 2002, and much more.
This video was created in anticipation of Yooka-Laylee, the spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, which is scheduled to launch in March 2017. Yooka-Laylee is being created by Playtonic Games, an indie studio founded by old Rare developers who worked on Banjo-Kazooie back in the day.
What do you guys think? Are you big Banjo-Kazooie fans? What surprised you most about the video? Personally, I never knew about the huge number of problems that Rare encountered while creating the first Banjo-Kazooie game, and I pretty surprised to hear about Banjo's origins as a human character named Edison.
