Last year, Universal Pictures announced plans for a movie based on the long-running Doom franchise. There was already a Doom movie starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson back in 2005, but since the video game series was successfully rebooted just a few years ago, it looks like the film industry is following suit. The first trailer for Doom: Annihilation is out now, and you can watch it by clicking above.

So far the initial reception is... not good. The first trailer has around 500 likes and 6,000 dislikes, and the official Doom Twitter account has already publicly distanced themselves from the project by making sure everyone knows the game team is not involved. Doom: Annihilation will be a direct-to-video production written and directed by Tony Giglio. It's slated to release this fall.
