Something new is coming to the world of Pokémon. Game Freak is currently hard at work on a new Pokémon game (or perhaps a new generation of games), and one of its new features may have leaked. Thanks to the watchful eye of the folks at Serebii, we know that Game Freak, Nintendo, and Creatures Inc. have all filed a trademark for "Ultra Shiny" in Japan.

For those unlucky enough never to have encountered a Shiny, they're an alternatively colored version of a normal Pokémon, and they're extremely rare. Under normal circumstances, every Pokémon you encounter has a 1 in 8,192 of being Shiny. Could an Ultra Shiny be an even rarer find in the next Pokémon adventure?

Unfortunately, we don't really have any other clues to work from at this time. The trademark is very broad in definition and covers a wide variety of possible uses, including TV games, cards, merchandise, songs, and more. We'll be keeping an eye out for any further developments.
