There have been a few reports of GameStop cancelling people's preorders of the Nintendo Switch, as well as its most anticipated title, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Stock for the console and the game has been thin ever since their reveal, and copies of either are hard to come by, as most retailers have closed preorders because of the supply constraints. However, it seems that even fans who have already placed their orders may have some difficulties receiving the console. Some stories have been cropping up online of retailers cancelling their customer's preorders, and not allowing these customers to place another order on the console.
One such story became popular on Reddit, with a user complaining that GameStop had cancelled his preorders on the Nintendo Switch and the Master Edition of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Both orders had been placed in a timely manner and had been accepted by GameStop, but were suddenly cancelled, and GameStop customer service was unable to determine the reason. This user lost his preorders, and although he was able to place another order on the console through Best Buy, he was unable to find another copy of Breath of the Wild's Master Edition. It's unclear whether this was just a glitch in GameStop's system or an intentional cancellation to deal with supply constraints.
What do you guys think? Has anything similar happened to you or anyone you know? Could this be a widespread phenomenon, or are these just a few mistakes on behalf of GameStop?
