Last year we learned that Man of Action Entertainment, the team behind Ben 10, is working on a Mega Man cartoon. Months passed with no new information, but we got an update in April that revealed it's still on pace for a 2017 debut, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the popular game series. We finally got a big update on the show today, as Dentsu Entertainment revealed the first image of the Blue Bomber's new look along with a handful of details about the upcoming cartoon's plot.
Aimed at "kids 6 to 9, as well as their parents who grew up loving the video games," Man of Action's Mega Man cartoon takes a different story approach than what we're used to. The show will star Aki Light, a "a normal, upbeat, schoolboy robot" with a secret power — the ability to transform into "the world's first robot super-hero," Mega Man. The show will see Aki struggling to maintain both his everyday life as a student and his heroic duties as his alter-ego. Aki is said to have "unflinching wide-eyed optimism and an over-the-top sense of humor." Familiar faces like Rush will be present, and there will also be newcomers, including a character named Mega Mini.
What do you think of Mega Man's new look? Based on what's been revealed so far, are you looking forward to the series?
