The wait is finally over. Sony has officially revealed the full list of games to be re-released on the upcoming PlayStation Classic. The mini plug-and-play was announced with five of 20 titles confirmed: Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms. The full list has some beloved favorites, while also leaving out a few key PlayStation classics that might leave a few potential buyers scratching their heads.

The complete list of games is as follows:

  • Battle Arena Toshinden
  • Cool Boarders 2
  • Destruction Derby
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Grand Theft Auto
  • Intelligent Qube
  • Jumping Flash
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Mr. Driller
  • Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
  • Rayman
  • Resident Evil Director's Cut
  • Revelations: Persona
  • Ridge Racer Type 4
  • Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
  • Syphon Filter
  • Tekken 3
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six
  • Twisted Metal
  • Wild

The lineup is fairly diverse, with fighting games, RPGs, and platformers giving the console a little bit of everything. Classics like Rayman, Metal Gear Solid, and Resident Evil Director's Cut should make this system an instant buy for fans of the original PlayStation.

A fair few notable classics are missing, however. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is absent, likely because the game was just re-released exclusively for PlayStation 4. Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot are also not present, possibly due to their recent remasters. Additionally, the version of the first Persona game added to the Classic, Revelations: Persona, is the original version brought over to the West, which had much of its religious content censored or removed entirely; a more faithful translation appeared in the PSP rerelease.

The PlayStation Classic launches in the US and Canada on December 3rd, so it should be a wonderful—if a tad expensive—stocking stuffer. Knowing how hard it was to find the NES Classic, those who wish to have this on day one might want to reserve it before it's too late.
