Detective Pikachu recently came to the West on 3DS, and soon it will be making the jump from the small, handheld screen to the massive theater screen. The movie adaptation, starring Ryan Reynolds as a talking Pikachu, began filming earlier this year, and it's slated for release in 2019. Today we finally got a good look at the upcoming film, as its first trailer dropped.
Detective Pikachu stars Justice Smith as a 21-year-old boy named Tim who teams up with a talking, crime-solving Pikachu to solve mysteries, including the disappearance of his father. As you can see from the trailer, Legendary Entertainment decided to go with a realistic look for the movie's many Pokémon.
