Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man swings onto PlayStation 4 this September in Insomniac Games' take on the iconic, web-slinging Marvel hero. In addition to the game's Collector's Edition (which comes with a steelbook, an artbook, and a statue), fans can also look forward to a tie-in prequel novel and a second artbook launching around the same time.

Marvel and Insomniac Games have teamed up with Titan Books for this two part collaboration. The prequel novel, titled Spider-Man: Hostile Takeover, is penned by David Liss (The Ethical Assassin, Black Panther: The Man Without Fear) and leads directly into the game. The story explores "Kingpin's plan to gain an iron grip on New York City" and stars a cast of friends and foes "including the Shocker, Echo, the Blood Spider, J. Jonah Jameson, Mary Jane Watson, and Wilson Fisk – the Kingpin." You can get your hands on this prequel story beginning on August 21st.

If you prefer pictures over words, Titan Books is also releasing Marvel's Spider-Man: The Art of the Game. Releasing on September 11th, this artbook is packed with exclusive images and concept art of Spider-Man characters and locations. Here's Titan's official breakdown of what you can expect inside.

"Packed with never-before- seen images of Spider-Man, his costume and equipment, the Marvel version of his hometown New York, and the deadly villains he battles, fans will learn about every facet of the game, from the initial designs, blueprints, and the breathtaking final concepts." — Titan Comics

Hostile Takeover will be available several weeks before the game itself, giving you plenty of time to immerse yourself in the story. Once you've gotten your hands on the PlayStation 4 exclusive, you can look forward to the artbook just four days later. In the meantime, you can check out some cover art by clicking below.
