Just under a week ago, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata surprised the gaming world by teasing upcoming hardware. Nintendo is keeping fairly tight-lipped about the details, but we know they're working on "a dedicated game platform with a brand-new concept" under the codename NX. Iwata also said that he hopes to reveal more specifics about NX next year. However, as is the Nintendo tradition in recent years, Nintendo is teasing a revolution. Speaking with Japanese publication Nikkei, Iwata said he couldn't give details, but he hinted at life-changing innovation.
"However, if you only expand upon existing hardware, it's dull. In some shape or form, we're always thinking about how we want to surprise players as well as our desire to change each person's video gaming life." — Satoru Iwata
Last generation Nintendo innovated with motion controls on Wii and a two screen experience with touch controls on DS. Wii U incorporated both of those ideas, while 3DS built on the original DS by adding stereoscopic 3D. What innovation would you like to see from NX?
