For those of you who are unaware, an enormous update is coming to Runescape this summer. In fact, the update is so big, Jagex has dubbed it Runescape 3. Among the features contained within the giant update are an HTML5-client, somewhat updated graphics and draw distance, some improvements to weather effects, support for controllers, better audio, and a customizable interface. And as it turns out, Runescape 3 is coming

In a recent IGN interview, Jagex also revealed that they are working to bring Runescape 3 to tablets, by the end of the year no less. And Jagex's ambitions don't stop there, as they also stated the possibility of bringing the game to consoles. However, Jagex CEO Mark Gerhard indicated that there is an unfortunate stumbling block in the way of a Runescape console release; Jagex wants players of their MMO to have the ability of cross-platform play:

"Consoles are easy If you can just get the console manufacturers to play nice with each other and stop fragmenting the community then we could do something there too." -- Mark Gerhard
