We are coming up on the end of December, and despite being in the thick of the holiday season, it looks like Microsoft is planning ahead by announcing next month's Games With Gold lineup. As with every month, the lineup includes two Xbox One games and two newly backwards compatible Xbox 360 games. The games in question are NeocoreGame's Deathtrap, Double Helix and Iron Galaxy Studios' Killer Instinct Season 2, Double Fine's The Cave, and the popular Ubisoft platformer Rayman Origins.

While Killer Instinct and Rayman Origins are pretty well known at this point, the other two games may need a little bit of explaining. The Cave, despite being a puzzle-platformer under Double Fine's name, is actually the legendary Ron Gilbert's spiritual successor to his point-and-click masterpieces: Maniac Mansion and its sequel Day of The Tentacle. As for Deathtrap, it appears to be a much more fleshed out version of the tower defense minigame from NeocoreGames' main franchise, The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing.

The release schedule for the games will follow the typical Games with Gold style. Deathtrap will be available all month, while The Cave can only be downloaded from January 1st to the 15th. Starting on the 16th, both Killer Instinct and Rayman Origins will become available.
