A historic Rare franchise was unveiled at Microsoft's press debriefing yesterday, and that game is called Killer Instinct. The revival of the series is coming exclusively to Xbox One, but in a form with which you may not be familiar. Instead of going for a retail version of the game, Microsoft is performing a different strategy.
On the launch day of the Xbox One, Killer Instinct will be available to download for free; however, the game only comes with one character: Jago. In order to play as anybody else, players must pay money to unlock new characters. Prices aren't determined yet.
This is a strange new way to release a game. Would you like to see more companies perform this strategy? Sound off in the comments.
