The next Pokémon movie, Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!, looks like it's going to be a heartwarming nostalgia trip for every long-time Pokémon fan out there. The movie will be a retelling of the first season of the Pokémon anime, showing us the first steps of Ash's journey to become a Pokémon master, and it's named after "Pokémon: I Choose You!," the very first episode of the entire series. It's the twentieth Pokémon movie to date, and it's meant to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the Pokémon franchise.

Some new artwork for the film was released in the latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine CoroCoro, and it's just adorable. In one of the images, we see Ash and Pikachu, together as always, watching the sunset as the legendary Ho-Oh flies by. It's not much, but the Pokémon anime has lost many of its core fanbase over the past few years, with the introduction of new characters and regions that fail to capture the charm of the original seasons, so this sort of move could be perfect for winning over tons of forgotten fans.

The trailer for Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! is available here (you can also watch a fanmade English translation of the trailer here). The movie will debut in Japan on July 15th, 2017, and it'll come to the West at some later point.
