Indie developer Toby Fox entranced the world with the charming, quirky, and lore-filled world of Undertale, and now he may be preparing to do so again. Dedicated fans have been chomping at the bit for any news about his next project for years, and the recent Nintendo Switch release of Undertale seemed to hint at an incoming announcement. A month later, Fox is cranking up the hype with a much more direct teaser.

The official Twitter account for Undertale just awoke from a more than month-long silence to release a series of cryptic messages. After changing the profile picture, background, and name of the account to be completely blacked out, Fox began tweeting out numerous all-caps messages regarding a major announcement that's coming tomorrow. Here's the full text:

"WELCOME. HAVE YOU BEEN LOOKING FOR ME? HOW WONDERFUL. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU AS WELL. I HAVE SOMETHING. SOMETHING I WANT TO SHOW YOU. SOMETHING I THINK YOU WILL FIND VERY, VERY INTERESTING. BUT IT IS NOT COMPLETE YET. NO IT IS FAR FROM COMPLETE. THUS I HAVE A SMALL FAVOUR TO ASK OF YOU. RETURN HERE IN [24] HOURS. AT THAT TIME, I WILL ASK YOU A FEW QUESTIONS. THEN USING YOUR RESPONSES WE WILL APPROACH ITS REALIZATION. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR TIME. I WILL BE IN CONTACT AGAIN SOON."

This could potentially be related to the strange bit of new dialogue discovered in the Nintendo Switch version of Undertale. In all versions of the game, it's possible to encounter a Clam Girl under certain circumstances. If you happen to stumble across her, she'll talk about someone named Suzy, her neighbor's daughter.

Although her name is in yellow text (which indicates important information), we never see Suzy in the game at any point. However, in the Switch version, she adds this additional message: "So you never met my neighbor's daughter. But please don't despair. Because the time that you will meet her... is fast approaching."

The language used in these tweets seems to be in line with this mysterious Suzy character. Just what is Fox teasing? Tomorrow should hold some of the answers.

Update: Fox has now posted a less cryptic teaser on his personal Twitter account. It reads: "For those who completed UNDERTALE it's really important that you check @UNDERTALE 24 hours from now. I want to make something new, and it all begins with your feedback. A Windows PC / MacOSX PC is needed." Whatever he's working on, it's "something new," but the fact that he's specifically reaching out to people who have completed Undertale suggests that it's related in some way. The mystery deepens.
