Last July, Pokémon the Movie: Everyone's Story made its debut in Japanese theaters, and after the credits rolled moviegoers were treated with a teaser for the next film. The teaser featured the familiar voice of Masachika Ichimura (Mewtwo's Japanese voice actor) and a title drop: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution. We've heard virtually nothing about the film since then, but today we finally got an update.

The Pokémon Company announced today that Mewtwo's next movie will hit theaters in Japan on July 12th, 2019. There's no word yet on the international release, but it will almost certainly follow later in the year. Little is known about the film, but the teaser featured Mewtwo asking "Who am I? Where am I?" Given its title, it is likely to be a retread of the original Pokémon movie in some way, but it's unclear how they intend to freshen it up for a new audience.
