The video game adaptation of My Hero Academia is headed to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC sometime later this year, giving you the chance to play as some of your favorite heroes and villains from the popular anime. Ten playable characters have been announced for this exciting game so far, and today publisher Bandai Namco revealed two more in the latest issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump.
The latest batch of character reveals is well balanced, with one hero and one villain. The self-righteous and tenacious Hero Killer: Stain and Class 1-A homeroom teacher Shota Aizawa (aka Eraser Head) should both be a headache to deal with, as they each have a way of crippling other combatants' offensive capabilities.
Stain will rely on speed and ranged attacks, slicing opponents up with throwing knives. In the show, a single taste of an enemy's blood will paralyze them, thanks to Stain's Bloodcurdle quirk. The game will feature a similar mechanic, as opponents' movements will become more restricted as they take damage from Stain's knives.
Eraser Head will fight primarily with his Capturing Weapon. Much like the anime, Eraser Head has the ability to erase the quirks of his enemies, leaving them powerless. In the show this is done simply by looking at the victim, but it sounds like the Capturing Weapon is required for quirk removal in the game. Once an enemy's power is removed, Eraser Head can move in for close combat counterattacks.
This brings the total amount of known playable characters to twelve. The roster thus far includes a diverse variety of heroes and villains, as Izuku Midoriya, Tomura Shigaraki, Katsuki Bakugo, All Might, Ochacho Uraraka, Tenya Iida, Shoto Todoroki, Tsuyu Asui, Momo Yaoyorozu, and Denki Kaminari have all been previously announced.
