Earlier this week, Nathan Fillion made dreams come true. Uncharted fans have been drawing connections between Fillion and the game's protagonist, Nathan Drake, for years. Both in terms of looks and personality, it seems like Fillion was born to play Drake, and he got to do exactly that in a fan-made short film from director Allan Ungar. If that 15-minute clip has you craving more, we may have some good news!
The short was fantastically well-received by fans and has already been watched over 2.1 million times in two days. More importantly, it seems to have turned some heads in the realm of digital video content. Ungar says that in the last two days he has already received emails about the possibility of turning the short into a digital series.
Entertainment Weekly: Do you guys have any other plans at this point to do something else Uncharted-related?
Ungar: I think that we're very happy and we're very proud of what we accomplished, and if it lives and dies as a fan film, that's great. If Sony… I actually got a couple emails today, I'm not gonna say from who, but there's definitely people talking about what this could mean as a digital series or something further. Obviously there's interest in there, and I think if it makes sense and if it's done right, I'd be thrilled to have a conversation about it and possibly see this specific story continue.
That's right, folks, this could really happen! Sony has yet to comment on the situation, so it's unclear how they see the project, but Uncharted creative director Neil Druckmann loved the short film. Fingers crossed!
