Move over, Castlevania—another famed video game franchise is coming to Netflix! Polish visual effects studio Platige Image announced earlier today that they're working with Netflix to bring The Witcher to TV screens across the world. This production, appropriately entitled The Witcher, will be based on the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, which serves as the source materials for the games.
You're probably already familiar with some of Platige Image's works, even if you don't know it. Platige Image created promotional material for both The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, as well as creating the 2013 trailer for Cyperpunk 2077. Outside of CD Projekt Red games, Pretige has also done promotional work with Prey, League of Legends, and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
Sean Daniel and Jason Brown, from SyFy's The Expanse, will serve as executive producers for The Witcher alongside Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko from Platige Image. Sapkowski is coming on board as well, serving as the show's creative consultant. Sapkowski said of the project:
"I'm thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories, staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing. I'm excited about our efforts together, as well as the team assembled to shepherd these characters to life." — Andrzej Sapkowski
Netflix hasn't revealed a release date for the series yet, but I already know I'll be bingeing The Witcher the day it comes out. Are you excited to see The Witcher come to life on TV? Let us know what you think below!
