Yesterday Nintendo announced plans for yet another Nintendo Direct presentation. The 35-minute video about upcoming 3DS and Switch games was planned to air tonight, September 6th, at 3:00 PM Pacific / 6:00 PM Eastern, but that is no longer the case. Nintendo announced today that they are delaying the Direct due to the damage caused by a recent earthquake in Japan.

Japan's northern island, Hokkaido, was struck by a 6.7 magnitude earthquake yesterday, and the tremors triggered a series of landslides, causing further damage. At this time, over 150 people have been reported as injured, and at least seven have perished with dozens of others currently missing. Over 3 million homes lost power, and many others were damaged.

At this time, Nintendo has not announced a new release date for the Direct. However, they say it will be "in the near future," so the wait shouldn't be too long.
