While the New Nintendo 2DS XL just launched in July, the original 2DS is still getting love from stores even now, and so are people in the market for low-cost option to play the 3DS library. Nintendo has just revealed that a new, $80.00 bundle that features a red and white Nintendo 2DS and a digital copy of New Super Mario Bros. 2 will release on August 25th.

This bundle was actually made available years back in European regions and has come back as the cheapest option out there to get a variant of a 3DS system with a game. If you have not played a 3DS system and want to check out Mario's main series 2D adventure on the handheld console, this looks like your best bet yet. The 2DS does not feature the stereoscopic 3D of the 3DS and will not be folded into the iconic clamshell design like the New Nintendo 2DS XL, but it might be a good fit for some customers all the same.

Will you be picking up this newly announced bundle? And do you think the choice of game is fitting or odd for 3DS newcomers? Let us know in the comments below!
