One of the most interesting parts about tonight's Nintendo Direct was Square Enix's new trailer for "project Octopath Traveler," which was revealed alongside the Nintendo Switch last year. Made by the developers behind Bravely Default, the game will feature eight protagonists with different abilities and is set to have a rich story with true role-playing elements. It even has a demo, which is available now!
The stars of this turn based RPG are eight individual characters with different abilities, powers, and goals who interact with characters in unique ways. For example, one character can challenge almost anybody in the game to a duel, and another can "Allure" others into following them, and can summon Allured characters to help her in battle.
In battle, the game features a boost system that accumulates "boost points" each turn, which can be spent as currency to selectively power up your attacks. The art style in the game, reminiscent of 3D Dot Game Heroes, is an HD take on 2D gaming, with 16 bit characters and highly detailed environments.
Project Octopath Traveler, while just a working title at the moment, is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch and will be released worldwide simultaneously in 2018. What do you think about this game? Are you going to pick it up when it releases? Drop down to the comments to let us know!
