Well here's a bit of a surprise. Nintendo Switch Online recently made its debut, and subscribers to this service now have access to a library of over 20 classic NES games. Three more titles were scheduled for release today and are now available, but there was also a fourth title added. In a move that no one called, Nintendo has released an easy version of the original Zelda.

Link's first 8-bit adventure can be pretty brutally challenging at times, especially for younger players who didn't grow up with an NES. With these players in mind, Nintendo has released an SP (Special) version of the game that has you start out with "all equipment, including the White Sword, the Magical Shield, the Blue Ring, and even the Power Bracelet." You'll also get a ton of rupees to buy extra items on your way to Ganon.

The Legend of Zelda drops players into a mostly open world with little restricting their freedom of exploration except for difficult enemies and a few required items. This version of the game eliminates those restraints, making it easy for any newcomer to pick the game up and explore Hyrule to their heart's content. It's an interesting move from Nintendo and could be a sign of things to come.
