Nintendo had their big reveal for tons of Switch details last night, and ever since then they've been handing out a lot of the juicy information we've spent the past few months craving. While a lot of the details have fans excited, not everything is going to be so easy to swallow, such as the price point on many of Nintendo's extra accessories. A lot of items, like the dock and Joy-Con controllers, come with the system itself, but if you want to buy extras or replacements, be forewarned that it will not be cheap.
Let's just get the ugliness out of the way—here's a list of accessories and their price point, as per Nintendo's website:
- Nintendo Switch Pro Controller – $69.99
- Joy-Con Controllers (L & R Bundle) – $79.99
- Joy-Con L / Joy-Con R (Individual) – $49.99
- Joy-Con Charging Grip – $29.99
- Nintendo Switch Dock Set – $89.99
- Joy-Con Wheel (Set of 2) – $14.99
Again, many of these components will be packed in with the $300 Switch at launch, so you won't need to worry about spending extra money on your first set of Joy-Cons, the Charging Grip, or the dock set. But if you were like me and hoped to grab a Pro Controller as well, or you were considering getting some extra Joy-Cons for multiplayer parties, it's probably going to be painful to take out your wallet for these purchases. It's certainly making me think twice about how much I really need that Pro.
What do you think of these prices? Are they way more than you were expecting, or do you think these price points are appropriate for these accessories and what they can do? Let us know in the comments!
