Pokémon GO, the mobile adaptation of Game Freak's popular Pokémon franchise, hasn't burned out just yet. The freemium monster-catching sensation actually appears to be doing just the opposite, and it doesn't show any signs of slowing down. In fact, with the addition of 80 new monsters from the series' second generation of games earlier this year, Pokémon GO has now hit a new active user milestone.
On top of winning the award for best mobile game at this year's British Academy Game Awards, the AR game has hit a new user base milestone, achieving 65 million monthly active users worldwide. The game now has had over 650 million downloads on Android and iOS devices, and Niantic has plans to add new mechanics soon, such as trading and battling with friends.
