Data miners have been hard at work examining the latest update for Pokémon GO, Niantic's mobile gaming app based on the popular Nintendo franchise. They've uncovered a lot of interesting stuff, including code that indicates customization options for your avatar, different genders for Pokémon, and the ability to give your Pokémon costumes (which could start with holiday-themed costumes for Christmas).

So, to break it down: first up, some code has pointed to the possible inclusion of Shiny Pokémon and gendered identifiers to differentiate males and females. Also, new audio files have shown up for the next hundred Pokémon to be added. There is also something referring to a "baby" position for Buddy Pokémon, possibly meaning you can carry your Pokémon around in a new way.

One of the big things to be added is avatar customization, which is upping the ante with options for changing your hat, hair, shirt, pants, shoes, eyes, and backpack. Some variables have been marked with terms like "unlockable," "sale," "new," and "purchasable," indicating the possibility of event-specific gear or gear that can only be acquired through completing challenges.

What do you make of all this? We'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter below!
