In a special media conference currently underway in Japan, The Pokémon Company has finally announced the highly anticipated Pokémon games slated to arrive on the Nintendo Switch later this year. After months of rumors overtaking the internet, the time for heavy speculation is at last over: Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! have officially been revealed!
The new Pokémon entries are re-imaginings of the original Pokémon Yellow for Game Boy, bringing longtime fans back to the Kanto region in the franchise's first wholly high definition adventure. With design cues taken from Niantic Labs' Pokémon GO, wild Pokémon are caught without the use of your partner Pokémon as you must rely on perfect throws, though battles play much like they used to. Speaking of, the games will even connect to the mobile app to transfer Pokémon in and out to the special GO Park with gifts exchanged back to GO, among them a never before seen Pokémon.
Also a series first, Let's Go was made with the Switch's Joy-Con controllers in mind as the games will allow for local two player co-op. A special PokéBall Plus-themed controller will also be released with the games, which will let you to take your partner Pokémon out into the real world not too unlike HeartGold and SoulSilver's Pokéwalker. Additionally, Pokémon will even be clearly visible in the overworld, be it in the wild or as your own partner Pokémon.
Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! are coming exclusively to the Switch on November 16, 2018. A new core series Pokémon RPG is also expected to launch on the hybrid system in late 2019.
