For years, fans have been asking for Ridley, one of Metroid's most iconic villains, to be added to the Super Smash Bros. roster. Ridley has been such a widely-requested character that he's even become somewhat of a meme, with constant debate among fans about his size and suitability as a Smash fighter. Well, today, the age-old debate has finally ended, as Nintendo has officially announced that Ridley will be coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a playable fighter.

As the main focus for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be the complete roster of returning fighters, Ridley will be one of relatively few new challengers. So far, he and the Inklings are the only confirmed newcomers to the series.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be released on December 7th, 2018, for Nintendo Switch.
