Any time Koei Tecmo makes one of their Warriors games based off another franchise, one of the key questions fans have is which characters will make the cut. That's definitely the case with their next title, Fire Emblem Warriors, whose roster has seen multiple reveals in the past few weeks as we approach its Japanese launch on September 28th. A new image from a Spanish retailer's website, however, may have just leaked the rest of the roster ahead of schedule.
We don't know if it's accurate, as its contents are somewhat questionable, hence why we're marking this one a rumor. The image comes from retailer El Corte Ingles and shows off box art for a Limited Edition of the game, with the cover hosting 25 sprites that correspond to the game's warriors. Only twenty characters have been revealed officially thus far, so those extra five would be new. However, while three of them make perfect sense based on what we know about the game, the other two are arching eyebrows across the internet.
First off, the three that seem like good bets are Caeda, Tiki, and Anna, all of whom originally appeared in the original Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light. Caeda and Tiki were both major players in that title, while Anna served as a shopkeeper in that game and throughout the entire series, before joining the playable cast herself in Fire Emblem Awakening. We even knew already that Anna would be in the game as your mission operator, and Tiki is getting an Amiibo figure. So these three seemed like very likely candidates even before this.
The other two are a bit more iffy, however, as they hail from outside the three games that Koei Tecmo has claimed this title would focus on. These two are Lyn, who has ranked in polls as the most popular female character in the entire FE franchise, and Celica, the main female protagonist of Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. It certainly wouldn't be impossible for these two to make the cut—Lyn joining as a fan favorite and Celica as a representative of the newest Fire Emblem title—but it would be a little odd.
Some are excited about these possibilities; others are remaining cautious, and for a number of reasons. If this is indeed the full cast for the game, it would mean that a number of other major characters surprisingly failed to make the cut. Shadow Dragon would also have very few representatives, making it much more challenging for the recently announced History Mode to retell that game's entire plot.
If not outright rejecting this image's validity, many fans are at least still wary of believing it's real. However, no one has been able to definitely show proof that this is a fake yet, so we won't know for certain until we hear more from Nintendo. Fortunately, there's a massive Nintendo Direct coming tomorrow, and I'd be shocked if it didn't show something new for this game—hopefully something that will offer real proof about this image one way or the other. Until then, you can check out the box art for yourself in the gallery below.
Do you think this is a fake, or could we really be looking at the final lineup for Fire Emblem Warriors here? Which characters do you think the title is missing so far? Let us know in the comments!
