According to an indie developer, Nintendo is working on an achievement system for the Switch. During an AMA on Reddit, the developer Lichthund was asked about rankings for their new game. When answering the question, they accidentally let it slip out that Nintendo was working on achievements.

More specifically, the question was about an online ranking system for their game Lichtspeer. You can see the direct response below:

"Nintendo doesn't have an official support for Achievements and Leaderboards, like Sony or Microsoft, but we know that they're working on it."

Once a user pointed out that this was new information that was probably supposed to be a secret, one of the developers quickly replied in an attempt to backtrack. They explained that Nintendo hinted that it was working on the feature, but did not actually directly confirm it.

"Oops.

Move along. Nothing to see here.

PS. But seriously - I have a really strong feeling they hinted it a few times."

Unlike its competitors, Nintendo has yet to implement an achievement system in any of its consoles.
