Various sources are claiming that the announcement of the next downloadable character for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS is incoming. Tweets from Roger DiLuigi, a former Nintendo employee who now runs the Japan Time podcast, state that a major announcement from the company will be made within the next two weeks. DiLuigi, however, does not specify whether this big news is or isn't Smash-related.
Meanwhile, a Twitter user and industry insider going by 'Stealth' claims he's seen the newcomer, calling the character a "big deal" that "makes a whole lot of sense." He also confirmed that the fighter is not a clone, and not a disappointment (Stealth considers the characters Shantae, Shovel Knight, and Wolf to fit the latter category), but won't state what gender the character is. Stealth has, in the past, proven his credibility as an insider by making legitimate claims regarding Splatoon and spilling the beans on a surprise Nintendo Direct.
TheRealZef, a third Twitter user who claims to have "connections with connections," posted some clues to who the character might be, saying that he "doesn't think this character won the ballot," but believes that they may have been chosen because "otherwise they wouldn't be ready just two weeks after [the ballot] closed."
