Yacht Club Games burst onto the scene in 2014 with a smash-hit game called Shovel Knight. Since then, the series has gotten a massive expansion pack, tie-in merchandise from Fangamer, and even official plushies. And according to Warp Zoned, next on the list is a set of four different books aimed at children ages 8–12 to teach them about the game, its universe, and more.

Yacht Club Games is working with Grosset & Dunlap, a publisher familiar with video games thanks to its work with Sonic X, to release these Shovel Knight books in January 2017. The line includes two activity-oriented books to pass the time and two more traditional game tie-ins.

Perhaps the most interesting inclusion is "Shovel Knight Mad Libs," which combines the fun of Mad Libs with the Shovel Knight universe. The other activity book, called "Shovel Knight: Digger's Diary," will be filled with mazes, puzzles, writing prompts, and other kinds of activities.

The other two entries in this line are geared more specifically towards the game itself. One is a handbook called "Shovel Knight: Codes of Shovelry Handbook," which will highlight the game's colorful characters while sprinkling in a few game tips along the way. The other appears to be a traditional strategy guide, called "Shovel Knight Guidebook," including 176 pages of "secrets and tips." Seeing as this set launches in 2017, it's safe to assume the guidebook will also cover the two upcoming expansions, based on King Knight and Specter Knight, both of which Yacht Club intends to finish by the end of 2016.
