When Super Smash Bros. Ultimate drops later this week, fans will be able to try out a brand new adventure mode called World of Light. Nintendo unveiled this new mode with an impressive cinematic sequence that sees all of the game's fighters, outside of Kirby, defeated by a villain called Galeem. Since then, fans have been wondering if World of Light will feature similar cutscenes throughout its campaign.

Nintendo Product Marketing Manager JC Rodrigo tackled this question in a recent interview with Game Informer. According to Rodrigo, you can expect some cutscenes here and there, but they won't be a major focus for World of Light.

"You will see some [cutscenes], but it's really more on focusing on the loot grind, and that flow of getting Spirits. It's more about the matches and the way of collecting stuff you have an affinity for – a certain IP or franchise you love and you're just like, 'I really need this!' It's more about that than anything else, but you may see a couple here and there." — JC Rodrigo

You may recall that the Subspace Emissary mode in Super Smash Bros. Brawl featured cutscenes, and Smash creator Masahiro Sakurai became disheartened when they were quickly uploaded to the internet. Because of this, he chose not to include any in the 3DS and Wii U iterations of Smash. World of Light won't forgo them altogether, but fans might want to temper their expectations if they were hoping they'd be plentiful.
