Last Friday, Sony announced a new charity initiative for the PlayStation brand. Known as "PlayStation Heroes", the campaign allows gamers the chance to win a trip to a special event to play games with a celebrity. To participate, users need to download the PlayStation Heroes app for the PlayStation 4, which launches next Tuesday. Through the app, gamers can purchase digital content, with 90% of the proceeds going to charity. Every dollar spent earns one entry into that period's sweepstakes. To get things started, Sony donated $100,000 each to Make-A-Wish, the USO, and The V Foundation for Cancer Research.

This month, professional snowboarder Shaun White will be playing Destiny with the winners of the sweepstakes. Future celebrities will include Snoop Dogg, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig, and Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry. The event is listed as private, so unless you get invited, chances are you won't be able to experience it. You can check out the trailer above!
