Last week, Sony announced that Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. and Sony Network Entertainment LLC were merging to become one entity known as Sony Interactive Entertainment. Following the merger announcement, Sony also stated that Sony Interactive Entertainment would be moving its headquarters to San Mateo, California. During Sony's latest quarterly earnings call, Chief Financial Officer Kenichiro Yoshida stated that games will be the main focus of Sony Interactive Entertainment. In addition to the games, Yoshida-san said that music, video, PS Vue, and other mediums will be areas that they would like to expand and develop.
When Yoshida-san was asked why they were moving the headquarters to California, he explained that the systems that provide PlayStation services are in the United States and the changes to how Sony manages digital content began in the country too.
