Shortly after Street Fighter V launched earlier this year, it became apparent that something had to be done about the high number of players disconnecting in the middle of matches. Capcom began cracking down on rage quitters back in April, but it looks like their efforts still haven't been enough to get the problem under control. As such, they've announced that a new update which includes stricter penalties for rage quitting will be implemented later today.

Street Fighter V will undergo maintenance from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM Pacific Time (online features will be unavailable during this maintenance window), and when it's complete, the new penalties will be in place. Players who are penalized will lose League Points and be locked out of online matching for a set time. Capcom also notes that they are working on "a new, more robust system that will address the issue more completely by early next year."
