During an Apple event in September, Nintendo revealed that they are making an auto-running Mario game for mobile devices. Super Mario Run is headed to iPhones and iPads first (other devices will follow at a later date), and the game starts as a free download that gives you limited access to three different game modes. With a one time payment, players can unlock the full game experience. Nintendo has kept us in the dark regarding the exact release date and price up until this point, but that changed today!

Nintendo has just issued a press release to reveal that Super Mario Run will launch on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices running iOS 8.0 or later on December 15th. The game is set to launch in 151 countries, and English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Russian, and traditional Chinese language options are all supported.

If you try the free demo and enjoy it, it will cost $9.99 to upgrade to the full product. According to Takashi Mochizuki of The Wall Street Journal, it will cost €9.99/£7.99 in Europe. According to Dr. Serkan Toto, CEO of Kantan Games, it will cost ¥1,200 in Japan, which converts to around $11.
