Masahiro Sakurai has been relatively silent since DLC for Super Smash Bros. on 3DS and Wii U wrapped up, and he has hopefully been enjoying a much needed break. That said, there are ravenous fans to appease, and Sakurai revealed back in January that his next project has already been decided. In a recent interview (largely focused on the Nintendo Classic Mini: Famicom), Sakurai casually confirmed that he's now working on his next game.

Unfortunately, Sakurai didn't share any additional details (what a tease!), so all we can do is speculate at this point. We've heard various rumors and reports suggesting that Nintendo Switch is getting an update version of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, but Sakurai also stated that he was unsure about the franchise's future just a month before he revealed that his next project had already been chosen, so it could be something else entirely.

Whatever he's working on, I'm hoping it's for Nintendo Switch. What would you like to see Sakurai tackle next?
